John Wills

John Wills is professor of American media and culture at the University of Kent. An interdisciplinary scholar with interests in Disney studies, game studies, and atomic culture and film, his most recent publications are Disney Culture (Rutgers University Press, 2017), Gamer Nation: Video Games and American Culture (Johns Hopkins University Press, 2019) and, with Esther Wright (eds), Red Dead Redemption: History, Myth and Violence in the Video Game West (University of Oklahoma Press, 2023). John has exhibited his work on video games at the British Academy (summer 2018), and most recently contributed to Van Burnham’s Supercade: A Visual History of the Videogame Age 1985–2001 (Dynamite Entertainment, 2022).
